Painted Handprints – Tiny Toes

Always start by explaining the activity and the rules – painting can be messy so it’s important to establish some guidelines for toddlers.

Today we’re going to make a classic kids art project, handprints! This is a fun and easy activity that is fun to repeat often as your kids grow.

Mix a drop or two of dishwashing soap into the paint for easy cleanup, then paint the child’s palm. The cool paint & bristles provide an interesting sensory experience and might produce a few giggles as well.

Older kids can press their palm to paper, lifting up slowly! You can keep a bowl of warm water and dish towel handy to make cleanup easier.

Developmentally appropriate activities for babies, toddlers, preschooler and school-age children

Little ones can paint too! Supervise the child carefully and always use a non-toxic paint labeled for use for children. Painting the palm is neater and provides a better imprint than letting the child dip their hands into the paint.
